hawt izz kool
well lets leave the pic aside, i will start with how my brain nerves react to 'hawt izz kool'.
This title could be laughed at by the literary circles but for me it holds some different meaning. It is breathing the attitude of the present generation: unconventional, creative, crazy, smart, young heads brimming with opinions, believing in the theory of bringing change…….change ranging from how we speak to what is spirituality!!
How does change happen? Why do parents and children think differently? Why is there something called generation gap? Why such a sea change in the thought process?
I think change is the consequent of individuality and subjectivity. It happens when you refuse to accept what the old generation brought to you in the form of their notions, ideas and listen to your own meanings and stand by them. The refusal is not egoistic but a reinforcement of the saying that nothing is permanent but change!
If you see around, change could be sensed in the plethora of human explorations. The cinema, the politics, the middleclass, sexuality, religion, spirituality, literature, everything is adopting a new form. Unconventional, realistic issues getting filmed, youngsters entering the arena of politics, parents accepting the notion of homosexuality or the court repealing the article 377, the likes of chetan bhagat topping the readers list…..(ughhhhh!)
Infact if you take a pause and introspect…..are you the same you used to be 6 months ago! The answer would be no…….and the easiest way to find is have a look at your old emails you sent to your friends, family, profs, boss!! You will either end up laughing or wondering at how you could write this!
Like when I read my old emails I wrote 3 years back when I got admission in Jamia Millia Islamia. All of them are fresh with my apprehensions, complaints about being in the new culture, new people, new names!! I still remember getting surprised at names like tooba, wafa, uzma, asifa!! But now everything seems to be seeped in me!! All are enveloped in the name of experiences with the guarantee of increasing the quotient of wisdom in you!!
So, the change is all over us!! However, the question is……is it desired all the times?
No!! Like I wish, people stop reading chetan bhagat!! C’mon guys! Even an illiterate like me can recommend you a book…..read ‘Life of Pie’!! Anyday better than the 3 mistakes!!
